Our Story
North South Home Collective was founded in Australia by two childhood friends. Lauren, a school teacher, local art and pottery loving mum living in Far North Queensland; and Darcelle, a creative, DIY loving, web developer living in at the opposite end of the country, Victoria.
Darcelle and Lauren grew up together on the Gold Coast, and although their adult lives went in separate directions with Lauren moving to Far North Queensland, they would always come together for the big occasions.
Then one fateful day Darcelle’s husband took a job in FNQ… and the 2 friends were able to catch up regularly once more! It turned out that both of them loved interiors and had a passion for beautiful linen, and they would each spend substantial time each day sending messages back and forth with new finds, brands they loved and décor ideas for their homes.
These mums, like so many others, spent a lot of time at home, caring for their loved ones and creating the perfect, nurturing environment to do so. They shared the belief that the home is a place where everyone has the opportunity to be creative – and creating a place that lifts you up and rejuvenates your energy is so important for you body, mind and soul.
It was when Darcelle and her husband were once again on the move (this time to Victoria!) that the idea for North South Home Collective began brewing.
Why not share our passions, outside of just our conversation? What if we could create a space to document our ideas and share with others?
The move hadn’t stopped them sharing ideas and fabulous interior finds with each other… so they decided to create a way to share with the wider creative community and collaborate with others along the way.
The vision for North South Home Collective has evolved from originally just a place to share ideas, into an online collective of homes, inspiration, projects, tips and so much more. A collective that brings together all Australian homes, from North to South, East to West.

The idea for The Collective started as a little seed, with our passion for collaborating with creatives and supporting small businesses on Instagram. We wondered how we could help shine a light on them in a bigger way. Our idea grew into this website and The Collective – our team of authors and content creators. The Collective gives these creatives, mumpreneurs, DIY’ers and designers a space to show what they are passionate about, a space that is all their own but also a part of something much bigger.
The Collective is a welcoming place for all creative people and home lifestyle enthusiasts. It’s a diverse group of individuals with all different expertise and backgrounds… and living in all different parts of the country. In becoming a part of The Collective, these people also become part of a group of supportive cheerleaders who can’t wait to see and share their ideas and inspiration.

We believe that the home is a projection of your soul and has the ability to rejuvenate, nurture, inspire and bring balance into your mind and body.
We believe that where attention goes, energy flows and your passions need to be shared. If there is something you find yourself doing every day, then you should share that energy… because you may just inspire someone else and make a difference in the world.
We created North South as a place to share our ideas and inspiration, even though we were living at opposite ends of the country…. and we wanted others to be able to share theirs along side us.
